Make Your Way Through Port Louis with Our Discovery Tour!
The Port Louis Discovery Tour is a hassle-free, cost-effective way to explore the best of Port Louis without any of the stress. Here’s a sneak peek at all the places you’ll visit:
As part of the excursion to Port Louis, you’ll have the opportunity to explore Fort Adelaide (also known as La Citadelle).
Built by the British in the 1830s and perched 240 ft above sea level, this strategic location offers a picturesque panorama of Port Louis, its historic harbour, and Signal Mountain.
Discover the largest oceanarium in the Mascarene Archipelago and the first of its kind in Mauritius!
With its 5500m² of visiting domains, the oceanarium showcases some 45 different aquatic habitats comfortably hosted in 2000m³ of pristine water. You will encounter around 200 species and 4,000 specimens of the Indian Ocean.
You may read more about Odysseo’s “Learn, Love, Protect” motto and other fun facts!
Atop the slopes of the Signal Mountain in Port Louis stands Marie Reine de la Paix (or Mary Queen of Peace), a symbol of faith for Mauritius’ Catholic community.
Ascending its summit, visitors are rewarded with not only a spiritual sanctuary but also panoramic views of Port Louis. Noteworthy visits from Pope John Paul II in 1989 and Pope Francis in 2019 have added to the church’s significance.
Le Caudan Waterfront: Exciting shopping and entertainment options intermingled with local arts & crafts, world-class hotels, and restaurants overlooking the harbour.
Port Louis Craft Market: Ideal place to source locally made products, embroidered linen, handmade jewellery, spices, and more at very affordable prices. You’re sure to find souvenirs for the family back home!
Located in the Capital of Mauritius, The Blue Penny Museum is the most famous and visited museum in Mauritius.
The museum boasts a precious heritage collection about the rich history of the island, its colonial period, and its growth over the years. It houses some prestigious collections, including the world-renowned Post Office stamps!
Formerly housed in a hospital building dating from the British occupation, the museum’s move to the Central Post Office in Port Louis (listed as a historic monument in 1958) has given a new dimension to its collection, and it’s a must-see!
During your visit, you’ll discover fascinating exhibits & artefacts that trace Mauritius’ postal evolution, from the Dutch tradition of message bottles to the pioneering postal initiatives under French and British rule. More to that, you’ll learn about mail delivery auctions on Rodrigues Island and airmail milestones.
